Why We Recommended It
Old Monterrey: Pixel Adventure is a premium 2D platformer that’s currently free on iOS for a limited time — normally $1.99. Unlike most mobile platformers, this one features no ads, no in-app purchases, and full offline play, making it a rare gem in a category often plagued by monetization. Set in a vibrant pixel-art world inspired by northern Mexico, you’ll run, jump, and battle alien invaders across handcrafted stages under a bright desert sky. The iconic Cerro de la Silla mountain watches over every level as you rescue goats and unlock the full game after the intro. If you’re looking for a distraction-free, retro-style platforming experience that respects your time and attention, Old Monterrey delivers without any strings attached. The open level selection after the intro lets you tackle stages in any order, and planned content updates promise even more to explore. Grab it now while it’s still free — this is the best time to dive into a thoughtfully crafted pixel adventure that feels right at home on iOS, with zero interruptions.

User Reviews
Overall I am giving it 5 stars because the concept and execution is there but it’s lacking things which can just be improved over time. The controls are pretty bad so I tried to hook up a Bluetooth controller knowing this would fix the problem, however there was no support for controllers. It only has 30 levels but again all this can be fixed over time, the graphics are nice and the concept is simple it reminds me a lot of old school Mario and the backgrounds when there’s weather is actually a very nice visual.

Save the goats in the simple and fun midwestern themed platform game. It has charming pixel graphics and catchy music. I like that there’s an added challenge of trying to shoot all of the red targets scattered throughout the levels. No ads or IAPs. Could use more levels but it does say that more levels are coming soon. I wish you could change your character or that there were things to unlock. And as someone mentioned having a timer would be cool as well. Overall it’s a nice little hidden gem of a game.
