I use it for US English with their Premium subscription, and I find it useful and OK for the price. Their support is no longer as responsive. LT can make glaring and subtle grammatical mistakes. I renewed my pro-tier after a year of using Grammarly on a premium tier. LT would have charged over $20 for the first month, which is discouraging considering their annual price of roughly $70. If you are an English language user and are not bothered by Grammarly’s privacy concerns, then the higher price of Grammarly is worth it. It does a far better job than LT, and maintains a consistent narrative style for your entire document. Grammarly’s desktop app supports more applications too, the exception being Thunderbird email client for which LT provides an extension but Grammarly does not support.

I've been looking for a mostly grammar related tool that could pop up and be used in just about any app. I believe I found that with LanguageTool. Even the free version provides a great deal of capability. If you need more than the basics, there is a paid version. I appreciate the developers did not add annoying ads. I found that LT works very similar to built-in editors found in popular word processors. However, LanguageTool can be used with just about any app or webpage. You can use LanguageTool in stand-alone mode or add it to an iOS shortcut for more flexibility. It's a really well thought out app that also considers your privacy as important. It has an uncluttered text screen with clearly marked action buttons. Corrections are suggested with buttons and a suggestion pane. You can accept edits directly into the text, ignore them, and even add custom spelling. Changing between writing contexts (casual, professional, etc. ) is straightforward. If you are looking for a solid grammar and spelling checker, I think you'll be very pleased with this app. If you are a professional writer, which I am not, you may want to look into the paid version.
