Why We Recommended It
Dyslexia Font: OpenDyslexic is a macOS productivity tool that installs the popular OpenDyslexic typeface system-wide with a single tap, and it’s currently free for a limited time (normally $9.99). Unlike other reading aids that only work within a single app, this one makes every font variant—Regular, Bold, Italic, Mono, and more—available across Pages, Word, Keynote, Mail, and any app that supports custom fonts. If you or a family member struggles with dyslexia, or you simply want a more comfortable on-screen reading experience, this is the lightest, most seamless option available. With over 425 reviews and a 4.5-star rating, it’s trusted by parents, teachers, and dyslexic adults alike. Beyond fonts, the app includes a reading ruler that highlights each line as you read—inspired by classroom guides—plus a camera scanner with OCR to turn paper documents into clean, resizable text, and a PDF converter that outputs OpenDyslexic versions for sharing. You can even compose emails directly in the typeface. It respects your privacy: no data leaves your device. Available in six languages. This is the perfect moment to grab a tool that transforms digital reading for dyslexic users—at no cost.

A font I can read!!!!! I wish I knew I was dyslexic when I was a child! I believe it would have changed my life. My parents were big readers. I noticed I had a hard time reading when I was 4-5. It wasn’t until I saw this font in OPEN Dyslexia I realized I was dyslexic all my life!!! I’m 55 years old. I did very well despite dyslexia. But I can only image if I had been diagnosed earlier I would understand why I had such a difficult time reading! Thank you soooooo much!!!! 💕

Many years ago I was in my work place break room reading paperback book(Star Trek series). One of my co-worker who was a very educated teacher ask me why I was reading my book, she said she knew I was dyslexic but could figure out why I was reading a paperback. I told her because air enjoy reading. Okay, even though I am dyslexic I enjoy reading. Now I’m not as good as a non dyslexics, but I enjoy reading. It’s the one ability I wish I could do better. To improve my reading ability. I have been to a dyslexic doctor, yes there was one in Great Neck NY in the mid mid 80’s . He prescribed me motion sickness medication. I found out shorty after taking some motion sickness medication that I’m allergic to it. Bummer. I tried colored lens. Look up scotopic sensitivity syndrome. Honestly, I didn’t see a specialist about this treatment. I just played around with some colored lens, blue ones. I think it helped, but I just looked silly with blue tined glasses. Now this dyslexic fonts, I think this is a big win, but not everyone has dyslexic fonts that are available on there fonts apps, so I’m still testing honestly.
