Why We Recommended It
Beat Watcher: Heart Rate Alert is currently free on iOS—a rare chance to grab a $5.99 app that does one thing exceptionally well: ping you the moment your heart rate strays outside your chosen BPM zone. Unlike passive health trackers that just log data, this tool actively alerts you with distinct sounds and vibrations on both iPhone and Apple Watch, making it ideal for managing stress, meditation, workouts, or conditions like POTS and bradycardia. It integrates seamlessly with Apple Health and even supports Bluetooth chest straps like the Polar H10 for longer background monitoring without draining your watch’s battery. Whether you're a fitness enthusiast who needs real-time feedback or someone managing a chronic condition, Beat Watcher transforms your Apple Watch into a personalized cardiac watchdog. The interface is refreshingly simple: turn the Digital Crown to set your high and low thresholds, then let the app do the rest. Critical Alerts ensure you never miss a notification, even on Do Not Disturb. With a full range of customizable alert types—persistent, background, or silent monitoring—this app punches far above its price tag. And it’s free right now. Grab it before the deal ends.

User Reviews
I've had tachycardia for decades, and this is the first app that gives me an audible/haptic notification when my heart rate is too high ... instrumental when I'm sleeping or not looking directly at my Apple Watch all the time. I changed my Apple Watch face to "Modular Compact" to use the Beat Watcher (Heart Rate) complication across the entire bottom of the watch, which is very useful when I'm sleeping or I don't have my glasses on.It's the best money I've ever spent on an app ... for me, it's been a lifesaver. Thanks for making this app and making it so affordable - I regularly promote this app to other veterans with similar heart conditions.(UPDATE) A few days ago, while I was at the VA Clinic, Beat Watcher alerted me to an elevated heart rate of 127 ... so I pulled out my KardiaMobile 6L EKG device, and I was able to record a tachycardia event. Generally, when the VA takes an EKG, it's normal by the time they settle me into an exam room; however, Beat Watcher allowed me to record a tachycardia event to show my doctor ... without Beat Watcher, I might not have gotten an early warning to the heart arrhythmia and tachycardia episode.(Suggestion) I want to change the alert tone on Beat Watcher because it currently sounds like every other alert on my Apple watch.Additionally, I had to disable the iOS11 Smart Stack on my Apple watch to keep using Beat Watcher as expected, not a big deal since Beat Watcher is significantly more important to me than Smart Stack.
